Procedures for Ordering New Materials

Non-Subscription Materials Including Books, Videos, Laser Discs, CD's

Orders for individual titles should meet Departmental and Materials Collection Policy guidelines. Although the Acquisitions Department checks current Library holdings and order records before placing orders for individual titles, if possible please check the Library Catalog to see if Vassar already owns the item you would like to request. The Library Catalog will also tell you if the item is already on order and if so, its status.

Please include author, title, imprint, isbn, and your name with your order. If possible also include a reference to your bibliographic source. Bibliographic information for both new and out-of-print publications can usually be obtained electronically (see Online Citation Sources under "Tools and Reports" on the Collection Management Resource home page).

Orders can be placed electronically through the Acquisitions Online Order Requests page. They can also be placed via paper form, available from the Acquisitions Department. Requests for Art and Music Library Materials should go directly to the Art or Music Librarians.

Subscription Materials (Serials)

New subscriptions are not being initiated during the ongoing serials review, but please feel free at any point to send your ideas for new journal titles to Christine Fitchett, Serials Librarian, chfitchett@vassar.edu. Chris will collect your suggestions and at the conclusion of our review in the spring we will begin to consider these requests.
