Loan Periods and Policies

Recalls and Holds

• You may recall items 2 weeks after they were checked out unless needed for Reserves. 
• Late fee on recalled items returned after the recall notice date is $1.00 per day per item. 
• No recall on 2 or 3 week loans unless needed for Reserves. 
• Only Vassar students, faculty, administrators and staff may recall items.  All borrowers may request holds on returned items.

Borrowing and Access Policies

To check out library materials and to access the Vassar Libraries after 5:30 M-F and all day on weekends, you must have a valid, barcoded Vassar ID card issued either by the Card Office (Vassar community, alumnae/ie and summer-programs participants) or the Circulation Office (faculty/student assistants, guest borrowers, cross-registered students) Your card must be validated at the Circulation Desk.

Who May Borrow?

• Vassar College students
• Vassar College faculty/administration/staff
• Trustees
• Language interns
• Authorized faculty/student assistants
• Guest borrowers
• Special, graduate and cross-registered students
• Authorized summer-programs participants
