Open Access FAQ

Information and resources addressing frequently asked questions on open access.

Does Vassar have an Open Access Policy?

Yes we do!  The Vassar Faculty voted to enact an Open Access Policy in May 2017.  The text of the policy and further information about how it might affect you can be found in the Open Access at Vassar guide.

Digital Window - Vassar's Institutional Repository

That's right, Vassar has an institutional repository!  It's called the Digital Window and it collects, preserves, and provides access to scholarly works created at Vassar.  The Digital Window also serves a publishing space for student research, such as capstone projects.

Institutional repositories use a Green OA business model.  The items deposited in an institutional repository can be pre-prints or post-prints.  Most journals allow pre-prints to be posted even if they own the copyright to the finished article.
