RefWorks :

This Citation Manager collects your citations and formats them according to the citation style of your choice. The "Write-N-Cite" feature requires downloading, but allows you to cite while writing your reports and generates a corresponding bibliography.

The 20 minute introductory YouTube series is divided into sections of 2-5 minutes.  The 5 minutes to set up an account is well worth your time.

Tip: use with the Basic Research Method to keep track of your sources as you are researching your paper.

"Broad to Specific" Research Method

  1. Start with an article in a scholarly encyclopedia for the field and read about your topic.
  2. As you read decide how you want to focus your research
  3. From that encyclopedia’s bibliography collect relevant articles, books and other resources  (you can use software like RefWorks to collect citations)
  4. Consult specialized reference sources
  5. Consult appropriate indexes for articles and chapters of books
  6. Consult your library’s catalogs and databases for books and other materials, such as liner notes of audio and visual recordings.
