Using the Libraries

Visiting the Libraries

The Vassar College Libraries welcome all visitors.  Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.  Visitors who wish to make regular use of the libraries should apply for a Guest Borrower card.  All library patrons must adhere to the Acceptable Behavior Policy.

Vassar is a part of the Federal Depository Library Program, which provides public access to selected documents published by the Federal Government. More information is available via the Government Information guide. For help accessing and using the Government Documents collection, email researchhelp@vassar.edu.

Access to the Libraries

The Thompson Library and Art Library are open to all users from 8:30AM-5:00PM on weekdays during the academic year.  Access during evening and weekend hours is limited to current Vassar students and employees.  The Libraries maintain shorter hours during holidays and academic breaks, including summer.  Please refer to the Library hours for more information.

The Music Library is located within Skinner Hall and is subject to the building access policies for Skinner Hall.  Visitors wishing to access the Music Library during breaks or summer should contact the Music Library directly.  Please note that access to the Music Library does not grant access to use other facilities within Skinner Hall.

The Archives and Special Collections Library is available to researchers by appointment only.  Please email spcoll@vassar.edu or call (845) 437-5799 for more information.

For information about access for persons with disabilities, see Accessibility.
