What's happening around the Library

by Andy Ashton on 2022-02-08T15:45:05-05:00 | 0 Comments

Happy Winter!  There is a lot happening at the Vassar Libraries this winter, and I hope you’ll stop by.  When you pass through the Thompson Library lobby, you’ll see an exhibition by local artist, Ilse Schreiber-Noll, entitled Nature, and Nature Defiled. Schreiber-Noll’s work both celebrates the natural beauty that surrounds us and examines the impacts of climate change and human activity on the environment.  It is worth the time to check out the exhibition and pick up a catalog while you’re there.

Also, did you know that you can borrow a houseplant from the library?  It’s true!  Plants will be available Thursday, February 10th and Friday, February 11th from 11:30-12:30 in the lobby of the Main Library (while supplies last).  Contact Science Librarian Emily Benton to learn more about the plant borrowing program – it may be just the thing to liven up your room during the grey winter months.

Finally, lots of people in the library are working hard to upgrade our library catalog to an entirely new system, which will go live this summer!  It is a big project, and we hope that it will make it even easier to find what you need in the library.  If you want to know more about it, keep an eye on this page for updates.

There will be lots more to share in the coming months, so keep an eye on this space.  In the meantime, enjoy the winter, stop by the library when you need a warm place to work, and get in touch if we can help!    And, of course, please remember to wear your mask when you’re here.
