Viewing archived websites

Using the Wayback Machine

Once you have clicked on a URL in either the Wayback Machine or Vassar's Archive-It account, you will be brought to a page showing all of the available crawls for that URL. The horizontal bar at the top allows you to scroll left and right through different years. Underneath that is a calendar. All of the dates with available crawls will have blue circles over them, with bigger circles indicating more crawls.

When you roll over a circle, you will see a list of all the times that site was crawled that day. Click on one to be brought to that crawl.

The archived website will be displayed with a banner at the top. The Archive-It banner has links back to the Vassar College Archive-It landing page and collection page. The Wayback Machine banner allows you to navigate through other crawls of the same page.

From here you can navigate the archived website the way you would normally interact with a live site, although not all features may work as intended (see Limitations of Web Archiving in the sidebar).
