MODfest 2019

January 31-February 10. Celebrating its 17th season, MODfest 2019 is Vassar College’s annual exploration of the arts of the 20th and 21st centuries.

THE THEME FOR THIS YEAR'S FESTIVAL IS.....

IN MOTION... This year’s theme  “in motion” asks us to explore movement in its many forms: from simply discovering what moves, to reflecting on the meaning of motion, to  actively being present in the moment.

From . . .

chaotic string textures that conjure the natural imagery of the tornado season as told by Joshua Roman and the JACK Quartet,

to music and the moving image,

to the premiere of  Richard Wilson’s String Quartet No. 6,

MODfest celebrates the diverse ways in which art

reflects and moves

through our constantly changing world.

ImageThis year’s festival marks the first time MODfest is moving off-campus. We are excited to present

Ensemble Mik Nawooj in the newly-renovated Poughkeepsie Trolley Barn. Formerly storage for

horse-drawn & electric trolleys during the 19th & early-20th centuries, this historic Main Street

building will support music, art, and other cultural programming.

Featuring

award-winning guest artists,

faculty members,

and students,

we invite you to join us for this exciting two-week exploration of:

music,

  visual art,

  dance,

  film,

workshops,

and

lectures.
