Google Scholar Advanced Search offers more control around how your search terms are interpreted.

  • Natural language searching
  • Easy citation functionality
  • Great forward citation searching, “cited by”
  • Best way to find scholarly articles for free on legal platforms
  • Helpful at the beginning or end of your search; when you are struggling

Disadvantages

  • MASSIVE
    • Easy to find articles… outside of your discipline
  • Close to zero filters for refining results
  • Advanced search isn’t very advanced
  • Severe lack of quality control
    • Now includes ChatGPT generated articles
  • Paywalls for items we have at Vassar (print and online)
