Recommended resources for getting started with research in Urban Studies

LOCATING BOOKS

The library holds a wide selection of books and ebooks pertaining to urban studies and disciplines that fall under the urban studies umbrella. 

Use Vassar Library Search to locate books and ebooks.

  1. Start with a keyword search, or search by title, author or subject.
    1. Revisit search terms and subject headings.
  2. Use the filters on the left side to filter by, 
    1. Availability: select Available Online or Physical Collections
    2. Resource Type: select Books or Book Chapters

Search WorldCat (Vassar instance) for books both at Vassar and worldwide. 

Visit Find, Borrow, Request for even more resources and tools. 

BROWSING THE COLLECTION

PRINT BOOKS

Physical books on urban studies can be found on the ground floor of the Main Library, Rm. 49, in HT 51 - HT 395 call number ranges. 

Social Science books are nearby, primarily in the H call number section (Rm. 39 & 49.) Identify specific sections using the Library of Congress H Class H outline.

See the full outline to identify the ranges for other related fields such as history or architecture. Depending on your topic, you may use books from the Art or Music Libraries.
