Databases A-Z

How is this different from Library Search?

This tool helps researchers identify the best databases for their work

  • The A-Z Databases list searches the titles and descriptions of databases
  • The A-Z Databases list does not search for content within the databases
  • Not all of the content included within these databases is findable in Library Search

Search Options

Three limit options are available: limit by department or program, content type, keyword search

Keyword search

Choose the default "Search for Databases" to search by database title or description

Tip: while you can't search content contained in the databases here, you can search for materials and topics highlighted by our staff in the descriptions
Example: a search for "Japanese" will go beyond the title and include descriptions which highlight potential uses relating to Japanese language, history, and culture. The search will also include resources identified as being relevant to specific departments and programs.

Limit by Departments/Programs

Use this menu to select a database that focuses on the subject, department, or program listed.

Tip: this selection will also provide librarian-recommended databases and subject guides for your department or program. It will also provide contact information for the subject librarian for that department or program.

Limit by Database Types

You can limit your search by the form of content included in the various types of databases, such as scholarly articles, primary sources, and newspapers.

Tip: if you are unsure what types of materials you may need, leave the default "All Database Types" selected.
