Reserve loan periods vary between libraries. 

Materials placed on Reserve at the Music Library may now be placed on two different types of Reserve loans:

• 3-day loan: (Exceptions: Reference books, Reference scores (01-05), Reference LPs.)  
• Day-long in-house use only: loans extend to the end of the day or when a user has completed use--whichever is sooner.  These Reserve materials are available the hours the Music Library is open.
• Overnight loans: This loan is for books and scores on Music Library day-long loans that would normally circulate if not placed on Reserve. (Exceptions: Reference books, Reference scores (01-05), Reference LPs.)  
  • ​​​​​​​These materials may be taken out of the Music Library on an overnight loan 30 minutes before closing time. They must be returned within 30 minutes after the Music Library opens the following day.

Music Library materials may also be placed on Reserve in the Main Library with different loan periods.

There are several ways faculty can submit requests for materials to be placed on Music Library Reserve. Note: Requests received after 4:00pm will be precessed the following weekday. 

• Fill out the online Music Library Reserve Request Form  

• Fill out paper forms available in the Music Library Circulation/Reserves office.  
• You may also send a list to musiclib@vassar.edu: Please specify the course for which the materials are needed.
• Bring materials to the Music Library Circulation/Reserves office.  The office is open Monday-Friday 8:30-5:00.

• Day-long in-house only loans: Regular reserve items are for in-house use only and must be returned by the end of the day.  Students accrue a fine of $1.00 for every hour a reserve item is returned beyond closing time. 
• 3-day loans: late returns are changed $25. 
• Overnight Reserve Items
  • Circulating books and scores on Music Library Day-long in-house Reserve loans may be checked out overnight one half hour before closing.  These items must be returned within the first half hour of opening the following day.  Students accrue a fine of $1.00 for every hour items are returned beyond this time.
